Financial Support for Vocational Training and College
Vocational training and college - and thus also housing during that time - do not have to be financed solely by a training stipend or a part-time job. Depending on your personal situation, various government benefits and grants may be available.
Berufsausbildungsbeihilfe (BAB)
Anyone who no longer lives with their parents while undergoing in-company or off-site vocational training may be eligible for the Vocational Training Allowance (BAB) under certain conditions. This benefit can help cover the costs of housing and living expenses. The Federal Employment Agency’s website provides further information and a BAB calculator to help you get started.

BAföG
Students and those enrolled in certain school-based training programs may be eligible for financial aid under the BAföG program. Whether you are eligible and the amount of aid you may receive depend, among other things, on your program of study, your personal circumstances, and your income. You can easily apply online via BAföG Digital.
Housing Allowance
If you are not eligible for BAB or BAföG, you may, under certain conditions, be eligible for a housing allowance to help cover your housing costs. Additional Financial Support

Kolpingsfamilie Mannheim-Zentral
Members of the Kolping Family Mannheim-Zentral built the Kolping House in downtown Mannheim. To this day, the Kolping Family remains closely connected to our association and to life at the Kolping House. Together, we carry on Adolph Kolping’s vision in Mannheim—to foster community and, in particular, to provide young people with a home and support as they navigate life’s journey.

The Kolping House Mannheim is part of the larger Kolping community. Our work is guided by the ideas of Adolph Kolping and combines housing, community, and support for young people. Kolping Germany is the nationwide Catholic social organization that brings together Kolping Families, institutions, and companies throughout Germany.
Kolpingjugend Deutschland
Since Kolping’s early days, young people have been at the heart of our work - and this is equally true at the Kolping House Mannheim. Kolping Youth Germany represents the interests of young people within the association and offers them opportunities to experience community, take on responsibility, and help shape society.
Verband der Kolpinghäuser e.V.
Kolpinghaus Mannheim e. V. is a member of the Association of Kolping Houses e. V. The association brings together Kolping Houses and other institutions throughout Germany and supports its members, particularly with regard to professional, financial, and programmatic issues. Through the association, we engage in dialogue with other houses that are dedicated, among other things, to youth housing and supporting young people.
